Gluten Free Restaurants & Cafes

As a Coeliac, I realise that there are a number of reasons why people are apprehensive to go out for a nice dinner or a lazy sunday morning breakfast. Personally, I take the research and call first option, as opposed to the go out and pray there's something for me to eat and then drive the waitstaff up the wall by sending them to the kitchen a dozen times. I also admit that if I haven't called first that I always ask (as nicely as possible) what the kitchen could do for me or if they could please change one of the simpler items on the menu i.e the eye fillet steak with mashed potato, sans sauce please (just incase).

As with any special eating requirements I suggest that you always call first to check and then confirm your gluten free menu with your waitstaff.

So, after a number of visits and a few emails from other gluten free Perthites & for those visiting this sunshine-y state of Western Australia, I've decided to make a list of gluten free restaurants for us all to use (yes, now is the time to do your happy dance)

  6. Thanks for the list! Here are a few more that I'ved tried.

Check out Lambretta along Hampden Road near UWA - they've got GF pasta stocked. Thai Cafe along Broadway (also near UWA) opens for lunch each day, and most of their dishes are GF too - though the staff likes it if you check with them, so that everyone's safe. also Toast in East Perth - they've got GF bread and cakes, and you can ask the staff to recommend GF items, they're pretty knowledgeable about it. Same with Fremantle Bakehouse in in Freo. Oh, and the Salvadorean(?) stall in Subi Market (I think its called Juancho's) as well! Domino's is good for an urgent GF pizza order too.
